Moradin is the chief deity of the dwarven pantheon and the creator of the dwarven people. He is the god of creation, craft, and the forge — the divine embodiment of the dwarven virtues of hard work, mastery of craft, loyalty to clan, and unyielding endurance. He is depicted as a massive, ancient dwarf with a great forge-scarred beard, wielding a hammer that could shape mountains.
Moradin cares deeply about his people and holds them to high standards — he expects dwarves to honor their traditions, excel at their crafts, protect their clans fiercely, and face adversity without complaint. He views the dwarven people as his greatest creation and takes their failures and triumphs personally.
Followers
Moradin is worshipped almost exclusively by dwarves, though craftspeople of other races sometimes pay him homage. His followers are smiths, miners, engineers, and soldiers — anyone who works with their hands and takes pride in craftsmanship. His clergy double as master craftspeople and are expected to be skilled in at least one form of making. Dwarven communities center their civic life around Moradin’s temples, which also serve as community halls and forges.
Divine Relationships
Moradin leads the Mordinsamman, the dwarven pantheon. He is allied with Tyr, Torm, and other lawful good deities. He has a mutual respect with Corellon despite ancient tensions between their peoples. His primary enemy is Gruumsh, whose orcish followers have clashed with dwarven communities for millennia. He also opposes Lolth and the duergar deities who lead the corrupted branch of his people.
