Torm is the god of duty, loyalty, and the virtuous use of strength in service to others. He is the patron of paladins and the divine embodiment of the ideal that power must be used in service rather than domination. He is steadfast, courageous, and deeply devoted to protecting the innocent — and he demands the same of his followers.

Torm died during the Time of Troubles and was resurrected by Ao, the Overgod, as a reward for his sacrifice — an event that only deepened his followers’ devotion. He is not a subtle deity; he believes in direct, honest action in service of good.

Followers

Torm attracts paladins, soldiers, and those who serve in protective roles out of genuine conviction. His followers are expected to be brave, loyal, and honest — to protect those who cannot protect themselves and to hold themselves to the highest standards even when no one is watching. His clergy are active fighters against evil rather than passive temple-keepers. They tend to be earnest, courageous, and sometimes naively trusting of authority.

Divine Relationships

Torm is closely allied with Tyr and Helm as part of the Triad. He has a particularly close relationship with Ilmater, whose suffering he is devoted to ending. He opposes all evil deities but most directly Bane and Cyric, who represent the corruption of duty and loyalty respectively.
