Mystra is the goddess of magic and the keeper of the Weave — the invisible fabric through which all arcane and divine spellcasting flows. Without her, magic would be raw, wild, and catastrophically dangerous. She has died and been reborn multiple times throughout history, and each death has caused periods of magical chaos across the world. Her current incarnation is calm, nurturing, and deeply invested in the responsible use of magic.
She is one of the most widely worshipped deities among those who wield arcane power, and her influence touches nearly every spellcaster whether they acknowledge her or not.
Followers
Mystra’s followers are predominantly wizards, sorcerers, and scholars of the arcane. They are expected to seek magical knowledge, use magic responsibly, and never hoard spells or magical lore from those who would learn. Her clergy, known as Mystrans, often serve as teachers, librarians of magical knowledge, and guardians of powerful artifacts. They tend to be thoughtful, curious, and intellectually driven — though some become obsessively consumed by the pursuit of magical power.
Divine Relationships
Mystra maintains close ties with Azuth, the god of wizards, who serves almost as a lieutenant in her divine portfolio. She is allied with Selûne and Corellon, both of whom value the responsible use of magic. Her greatest enemy is Shar, whose Shadow Weave represents a corrupted alternative to Mystra’s own Weave, and the two are in eternal opposition.
