Shaundakul is the god of travel, exploration, and the open road. He is the patron of those who go where no one has gone before — explorers, caravanners, and wanderers who find meaning in the journey rather than the destination. He is depicted as a tall, weathered traveler wrapped in a cloak that moves in a wind that doesn’t exist, always with one foot pointed toward the horizon.
He is a deity of the old ways, predating many of the more established faiths, and retains a quality of ancient freedom and wildness that makes him distinct from more civilized travel deities.
Followers
Shaundakul attracts explorers, scouts, caravan guards, and those with wanderlust in their souls. His followers are expected to help travelers in need, explore unmapped places, and carry the faith to new lands. His clergy rarely stay in one place for long — his temples are waystations rather than permanent establishments. Followers tend to be independent, resourceful, and deeply uncomfortable with staying still for too long.
Divine Relationships
Shaundakul is allied with Selûne, whose stars guide travelers through the night, and with Mielikki, whose forests he often passes through. He has a respectful relationship with Waukeen, as caravans depend on both trade and safe passage. He opposes deities who restrict movement or imprison travelers, making him a quiet enemy of Bane and similar controlling forces.
