Garran Velmouth
Duke Garran Velmouth is a lean, hard-eyed veteran with a permanent limp from an old Frost Giant encounter. Once commander of a mountain patrol battalion, he now rules Aremir with a survivalist’s pragmatism. His court is filled with former adventurers, dwarven engineers, and grim-faced mining barons. He mistrusts ceremonial displays and despises useless nobles. He has situated himself into a precarious position with his openly critical attitude of the kingdom and questions of why the humans of northern and southern Kastalshire should be a single nation.
Duke Caldus Renward is an aging Noble whose stone-faced demeanor matches his fortress. A traditionalist to the bone, Caldus trusts local militias over the king’s armies and has turned down all invitations to Contramara. He maintains an elite border ranger corps known as the Coldwatch, who patrol the duchy’s outermost reaches with brutal efficiency. He is close friends with his cousin and fellow count, Duke Garran Velmouth of Aremir.
