Current Stories

A reminder of the crises, consequences, powers, and mysteries still shaping Eryndor.

Aftermath & Active Crises

Recent victories changed the world. They did not settle it.

The Domes

The original dome over Zindariel remains, and four new, much smaller domes have appeared, each roughly one mile across: the vault at Othan Manor, the ruins of Castle Bran, the Labyrinth, and the coastal fortress at the Wall. Whatever happened during the Vivisectionist crisis has permanently changed the map of Eryndor.

The Criminal Shadow War

Criminal organizations across Eryndor are becoming increasingly organized, wealthy, and politically entrenched. The Brotherhood of the Rat, Dreadwake interests, the Velvet Ledger, and other organizations are pieces of a much larger struggle for control of the underworld.

The Ruin of Talvereth

Talvereth remains shattered and the Gilded Council is broken. The Bastions of Solara are pushing both reconstruction and a restructuring of the council that would divide political representation between halflings and the other peoples of the city.

The Rebuilding of Spens

Spens is rebuilding after its temporary capture by a coalition of Dreadwake forces. The city survived, but its political, criminal, and economic landscape has been badly disrupted.

The Eye of Chaos

The Eye of Chaos remains somewhere in the world and has not been brought to account. Its ultimate destination and intentions remain unknown.

Northern Kastalshire

The growing druidic and treant crisis in northern Kastalshire continues to worsen. Groves have gone silent, old relationships with the Crown are breaking down, and something is changing in the northern forests.

The Better Dawn / Dreaming Dark

The Champions Guild and the Chosen of Lathander achieved a major victory, destroying the immediate invasion route and capturing Aethrael, who remains imprisoned. But elements of the Better Dawn escaped, and the greater Dreaming Dark remains beyond Eryndor.

Kalamethet

Kalamethet survived. The twisted dragon was last seen within the Labyrinth, and his ultimate fate remains unresolved.

Nations in Motion

Governments, cultures, resources, and new technology are shifting the balance of power.

Unrest in Kastalshire

The Crown’s increasingly centralized rail system and political control are creating serious unrest among the duchies. Old tensions with Thundrakar and resistance to Contramara’s growing authority are feeding into the instability.

Thundrakar’s Eastern Foothold

Rurik Grimveil of Thundrakar’s Clan Glimveil now holds a castle in far eastern Kastalshire, captured with the aid of the Champions Guild. The stronghold gives Thundrakar a fortified foothold for raids into Kastalshire. The Crown is unlikely to tolerate the incursion for long, and a major Kastalshire response is expected.

The Airship Race

Airships are rapidly changing military and economic power across Eryndor. Drakmir, Talvereth, and Lexovar already possess one or more, while Kastalshire, Sylvandar, and the Forged Sands are very close to fielding their own.

Kar Dromm in Crisis

Assassinations, vacant clan seats, unresolved succession struggles, and disputes over dwarven rights to ancient masterworks have created growing instability throughout Kar Dromm. No single crisis has broken the nation, but several are beginning to overlap.

The First Arbiter

Sylvandar approaches the selection of its next First Arbiter. Competing visions for how aggressively Sylvandar should exert its influence abroad are beginning to collide.

The Woaden Wood

Sylvandar’s ancient forests are becoming an increasingly valuable strategic resource as other nations race to construct airships. The elves have little interest in surrendering the forests simply because the rest of the world suddenly needs their timber.

Uncertainty in the Forged Sands

The Steelborn face mounting tension with Lexovar, worsening shortages of the fragments necessary to create new Steelborn, and unsettling mysteries throughout their territory. The Black Silence, old sealed sites, and unresolved questions surrounding Steelborn creation have left the nation increasingly uneasy.

The Aging Storm of Thundrakar

Drogath Stormvein will not rule forever, and uncertainty surrounds what comes after him. The secretive Polaris continues to operate while foreign powers quietly watch the coming succession.

The Scar of Vaelor

Foreign nations increasingly want permanent access to the Scar’s resources and strategic position. The Genasi continue resisting attempts to turn trade agreements into foreign footholds.

The Future of Sanama

A growing divide is forming between those who want permanent settlements, markets, schools, and infrastructure and those who believe settling permanently would destroy what makes Sanama what it is.

The War of the Fanged Swamp

The struggle within the Fanged Swamp is intensifying as competing powers fight for territory and influence. At the same time, the swamp itself continues to change — waters shift, old routes vanish, and previously buried places reappear.

Unrest in the Bastions of Solara

Resentment toward Solara’s entrenched elite is growing among merchants, veterans, and poorer citizens, while groups such as the Ashwings and Sunbroken challenge the state’s authority. Airships are also beginning to undermine Solara’s historic control of mountain passes and overland trade.

Unresolved Threats & Mysteries

Some dangers survived. Others are only beginning to reveal themselves.

The Dragons of the Roost

Dragons have begun moving beyond the places where they are normally seen. Why is unclear.

The Stolen Memories of Elora

A massive collection of genealogies, hidden roads, treaties, testimony, and cultural memory was deliberately stolen from the Herds of Elora. The archive has never been recovered, and some believe the thieves were trying to erase something, rather than steal it.

Lexovar’s Hidden War

Rival magical institutions continue their quiet academic cold war of influence, espionage, and sabotage. Beneath it, organizations such as the Obsidian Chain may have penetrated institutions that believe themselves secure.

Knell Escaped

The sentient bell-construct known as Knell has escaped the Arcanum. Born when mixed magic at the Arcanum awakened a bell into consciousness, the powerful construct now roams Kastalshire and seeks vengeance on the students whose magic brought it to life.

The Old Blood

Awakenings of the mysterious Old Blood are becoming more frequent throughout Eryndor. No one yet understands why.

The Fragile Peace

The great wars are over, but Eryndor is not truly at peace. Old grudges, new weapons, unstable governments, criminal empires, territorial ambitions, and rapidly changing technology are placing increasing pressure on the agreements that have kept another continental war from beginning.

The world remains in motion.
