Beshaba is the goddess of misfortune and bad luck — the cruel twin of Tymora whose domain is the accident, the failed roll, the terrible timing that ruins everything. She is capricious and cruel, spreading misfortune not with any purpose or plan but out of sheer malice and the pleasure she takes in watching things go wrong. She was split from Tymora in ancient divine conflict and has hated her sister ever since.

Beshaba is often propitiated rather than truly worshipped — people make offerings to her not because they love her but because they desperately hope she will look elsewhere for her amusement.

Followers

True worshippers of Beshaba are rare and tend to be nihilists, sadists, or those who have been so devastated by misfortune that they have embraced it as their divine patron. Her clergy spread misfortune, cause accidents, and undermine the efforts of Tymora’s faithful wherever they find them. Most interaction with Beshaba involves desperate propitiation from people who want her to leave them alone.

Divine Relationships

Beshaba’s eternal enemy is her twin Tymora, whose good fortune she opposes in every form. She has no true allies — even evil deities find her capricious nature unpredictable and her misfortune contagious. She opposes all deities of good fortune, skill, and careful planning, preferring a universe where everything is decided by random cruel fate.
