Rakkath

Rakkath is the Dominion’s great coastal city of movement, trade, and restless money. Its harbors stretch across the shoreline in layered docks, sea walls, warehouses, counting houses, crane towers, and customs yards that never go dark. Magical lamps burn through the night in every major street, giving the city a permanent amber glow visible from ships far offshore.

Rakkath works around the clock. There are no noise ordinances because silence is considered bad for business.

The Dominion likes to imagine its wealth as disciplined and honorable, but Rakkath proves wealth is rarely that clean. Rakkath does not reject order. It bends order around profit. Beneath official order sits another city of favors, coded debts, false manifests, private guards, and quiet arrangements.

Districts

The Grand Harbors — The city’s true face. Ships from across Eryndor crowd the deepwater piers beneath signal towers and permanent light. Harbor chains and inspection barges keep the traffic moving.

The Scale Market — Fed constantly by ships, rail cars, river barges, and caravan roads. Loud with bargaining, oath-taking, cargo calls, and disputes settled under the eyes of paid witnesses.

The Smoke Quays — Lower canals where smaller vessels and quieter cargo avoid the attention of the Grand Harbors. Damp, crowded, and populated by workers who know when to look closely and when to become suddenly blind.

The Gilded Railward — Grew around the freight stations after the rail made Rakkath impossible to bypass. Platforms never sleep.

The Coinspine — Rises above the market in clean terraces of broker houses, moneylenders, guild offices, and private courts. Streets quieter, guards better paid, crimes more polite.

The Embermaze — Old lower quarter where smoke from kitchens, forges, bathhouses, and hidden workshops never quite clears.

The Cracked Row — Not named on official maps, but everyone in Rakkath knows how to find it. Behind respectable shops and rented counting rooms, smugglers, fixers, fences, and quiet killers conduct business with enough restraint to avoid open war.

Leadership

Scale Bearer Threxan Goldwake — Copper-scaled dragonborn with a merchant’s patience and a magistrate’s memory.

Guildmaster Orrik Venscale (Rakkath Exchange) — Heavy-jowled kobold with jeweled spectacles, perfect manners, and a gift for making ruin sound like a reasonable fee.

Freightmaster Sarraxa Vey — Oversees the Gilded Railward. Red-scaled dragonborn whose office contains more maps than furniture.

Harbor-Marshal Kavrix Tidemark — Commands the Grand Harbors. Blue-scaled dragonborn who believes a dock delay can be as dangerous as a pirate raid.

Shaka the Cracked — Rules the shadow side of Rakkath. Golden-scaled dragonborn fixer, smuggler, and information broker. Leader of The Cracked Scale criminal syndicate.

Velkit Brass-Eye — City’s most feared customs auditor. Gray kobold with a brass replacement eye and no visible sense of humor.

Marro Veylorn — Commands the city watch with exhausted competence. Knows Rakkath cannot be made clean, so he focuses on keeping it functional.
